The "Modern-Original" is the first drop-in replacement for the Gibson plastic molded bridges of the 1960s.

Many early to mid 1960s Gibson flat top acoustics featured a plastic bridge and adjustable saddle, allowing for quick string height adjustments.  These were held to the top with 4 screws. Over the ensuing 60 years, most of these original injection-molded plastic bridges have cracked and warped as the material aged.  Many featured a wide Ceramic Saddle which creates a wonderful clear tone that has regained a considerable following for its special sound.

As there have never been direct replacements available, these bridges have been most frequently replaced with aftermarket rosewood or ebony bridges, changing the look and tone of the instrument. This is an expensive guitar-by-guitar process and only yields results as good as the luthier, as no replacement bridge actually fits.

As appreciation of the original sound and appearance has increased, it has become important to have a strong, period correct replacement.  The Music City Bridge drop-in replacement is just that.  It is available in a dusty gray matte finish that imitates the patina of 60 years, and also in a shiny black that is what we imagine that the originals may have looked like when brand new.

The Acoustic Bridge's improved material and honeycomb structure create a much stronger bridge that retains the functionality, sound, and aesthetic of the original design. The Bridge comes with mounting hardware and is compatible with the original bridge plate and adjustable saddle insert, making for a quick and easy transition.

Note: Bolts included, saddle is not (at this time)

Unfortunately, I have to give this product a negative review.
It is not as accurate as the original Gibson bridge:

The screws are too long and come without washers.

The piece itself has a stubborn angle that makes it difficult to fit properly to the guitar top.

The screw holes are not easy to insert into and are not positioned accurately.

Overall, I am quite disappointed with the quality and the fit.

Not an exact LG0 fit

The bridge I received is made for an adjustable bridge saddle setup, not like on my original LG0 which has a thin slot for the bridge to be placed into. Very disappointed and not likely to use this piece or order again for that matter. Should not be advertised as a fit for a 60's LG0 with this major difference in construction.

how to improve the Modern Bridge

throw the sheet metal screws away that come with the bridge. Tap the screw holes on bridge to fit machine screws. Cut the heads off of machine screws and loctite into threaded holes. insert bridge with machine screws into guitar body. thighten using washers and nuts.

Poor design

You could not get the bolts tight without stepping the threads in the bridge. Not sending back, don’t want money just learned an expensive lesson.

This is the only company I could find that made the bridge I needed. Thank you!

Aged adjustable bridge

I finally managed to get my new bridge on and my Hummingbird sounds terrific once again. It’s taken I while but thanks for all your help. It looks as it should and the original tone is retained so I’m thrilled to be able to play her once again.

So much better than the original

My father has a 63 J45 that had the original bridge that was cracking and turning grey. This drop in replacement was super easy to install...just don't accidentally throw away the included screws.
