Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which bridge do I need?

A: For Gibson guitars with a wraparound tailpiece from 1953-1960, use The Stud Finder. For guitars made after 1960 (1961 serial-modern) use The Savvy. This includes custom shop guitars and reissue models. Check out the graphic below for a visual representation.

Q: Do I need metric or standard Locking Studs?

A: If your guitar is built in the USA, it will almost certainly take standard studs. Metric Locking Studs are compatible with imported models from brands like Epiphone, PRS SE, Harley Benton, Eastman, etc.

Q: Do I need to buy MCB Locking Studs with my Stud Finder?

A: Your current studs will work with the Stud Finder. However, we recommend keeping your original studs with your original bridge and using MCB Locking Studs to ensure the best possible fit.

Q: What if I have a guitar with a wraparound/lightning bar tailpiece and a Bigsby or Vibrola?

A: For instruments like this, we recommend checking out the Conversion Posts. These fit your original stud bushings but allow you to install an ABR-style bridge. We don't recommend using the Savvy in conjunction with a tremolo- it's a standalone wraparound tailpiece.
