SPACE BAR - Gretsch Replacement Bridge
SPACE BAR - Gretsch Replacement Bridge
The SPACE BAR corrects the problems with the original Gretsch Space-Control Bridge.
As a fixture on many Gretsch models over the decades, the Space-Control bridge provides each string with a transversing (side to side) adjustment, making it possible to set string spacing manually.
The SPACE BAR adds a lightning bolt intonation line to the original Space-Control design while retaining the imperative horizontal single-string adjustment capability.
SPACE BAR Features:
- Compensated lighting bolt design for improved intonation
- Individually adjustable string spacing
- Compatible with Bigsby vibrato systems
- Traditional vintage styling
- 12-inch radius
Compatibility:
The SPACE BAR will fit on any Gretsch with a Space Control bridge, including USA-made and imported guitars. The SPACE BAR fits instruments with a post-to-post distance from 2.9"-3.016".

I've wanted a Space Control bridge for my Gretsch 6131-59 ever since I got it - many years ago a friend of mine had an original '59 and I thought the bridge looked great.
The trouble is, the one Gretsch currently offer doesn't look like the original (straight threaded bar instead of curved, graduated sized saddles rather than all the same, and inelegant, blocky support ends rather than gracefully curved), and vintage ones are horrendously expensive.
The Music City bridge solves all these problems - it's exactly as per the originals were, but with the clever addition of the bar being split and realigned, so it's correct for intonation!
My Gretsch now looks like it always should have, and I'm very happy with it.
....it wouldn't fit on the original base on my 1959 6120. It fits on my 2018 Billy Bo, but not on the original Space-Control base of my'59. It's too narrow.
Incredible! I was looking at trying to do almost the exact same thing myself, and it works perfectly. It kept the look, and fixed the intonation.
Once you get intonation correct, it is a great bridge. My ‘trons sound so much better and Bigsby works great with no more snags from previous TOM bridge. Highly recommended upgrade for any Gretsch guitar.
Great product. Would give it 5 stars but had some issues. Had difficulty installing since the threaded rod was just on the verge of not being long enough between the two posts. I have a Gretsch Custom Shop Stern Penguin that has a spacing of 3” o.c. between the two posts. Perhaps the “standard” or vintage Gretsch have a closer spacing. I was able to get the ends to stay in place. The high E string has a buzz played acoustically, but it doesn’t show through with the pickups. Maybe it is the looseness of the rollers. They spin rather easily and possibly it is vibrating. But….the intonation was a great improvement. If there is an option to get a longer threaded rod, I would jump on it. Verify your post spacing.
Happy customer from Germany. Great replacement bridge; excellent service. What a pleasant experience. Thank you!
I was worried that it wouldn't work because it is not one of the guitars mentioned in the product description, but it works perfectly. It replaced a tune-o-matic bridge easily and it sounds great.
Finally, I can gig with my 6120!!!
